23rd June 2020

Dear Parents,

We have reached the end of a rather difficult year. There will be none of the usual celebrations to mark it unfortunately.

For Years 5 and 6, 24th June will be the last day of online lessons. On Thursday, 25th, between 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. you are asked to bring in their textbooks, and you can collect their notebooks and any other personal items, and the report.

For Years 1, 2, 3 and 4, the last online lessons will be on 25th June. On Sunday, 28th June, between 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. you are asked to bring in their textbooks, and you can collect any personal items that have been left in school and also the report.

I wish you all a safe, healthy summer and I hope to see you again in September.

18th March 2020

Dear Parents,

As a precautionary measure the Ministry of Education has ordered all educational institutes to close until 28th March. In accordance with this ruling, our school has closed. We have moved the week of Spring Break to this time in order to cause as little disruption as possible to our school year.

Next week, the school will remain closed for the students, but the staff will be working to ensure that your child continue to be educated. You will be informed exactly how on Sunday, 22nd March.

We thank yo for your continued support, understanding and cooperation.

In the meantime, stay home and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Valerie Turner

On behalf of the Board of Governors and staff, I welcome you to the website of the British School of Benghazi.

The British School of Benghazi is pleased to offer a British style education from Nursery to Year 6. The school has been in operation since 1958 and is well-known for its reliability and stability. We work closely with the Benghazi European School which provides a British Secondary education. This gives families the opportunity for their children to complete their secondary education here in Benghazi. Our school uses the Edexcel programme as a foundation of its curriculum.

Our school is staffed with dedicated, caring teachers who strive to deliver the best education possible. One will find in each classroom a warm, caring environment where students are encouraged to work to their own potential with a challenging and interesting curriculum. Student successes are acknowledged and celebrated. Within this setting, trust and respect is developed between teachers and students.

The school’s philosophy is reflected in its motto: respect, responsibility, reliability. Through motivating activities in the classroom and school-wide celebrations, we learn to respect and understand different cultures and traditions. It is our belief that by respecting others, students can learn to be successful citizens contributing to our global community.

We give all students every opportunity to become responsible members of our school both personally and socially. Through personal responsibility, students develop a sense of independence, persistence and flexibility. Social responsibility is important for the success of each student as they progress through school and become global citizens.

All students are encouraged to understand the importance of being reliable. Students find that reliability develops trustworthiness between themselves and others, leading to a sense of pride in their accomplishments and personal happiness.

Please feel free to browse our website to discover more of what we have to offer. If you need more information, contact us via the phone numbers and email addresses provided. If you are in Benghazi, please stop by the school and have a visit. You are assured of a warm welcome by both teachers and students. We look forward to meeting you.
